Bangladesh Cricket made history on Sunday by recording their first Test victory in Australia, defeating the hosts by nine wickets in the series opener in Darwin.
Australia scored 198 in their first innings, but Bangladesh responded strongly with 426. Tanzid Hasan led the visitors’ batting effort with a century and helped Bangladesh build a commanding lead.
Australia then returned to bat in the second innings but managed only 284. Mehidy Hasan Miraz claimed five wickets to lead Bangladesh’s bowling attack.
Hasan Mahmud also played a key role throughout the match. He finished with nine wickets in the game and helped Bangladesh maintain control over Australia.
Bangladesh needed only a small target in the final innings. The visitors completed the chase with nine wickets in hand to secure a landmark victory.

Australia last suffered a major upset at home in 2024. The West Indies defeated them by eight runs at the Gabba after fast bowler Shamar Joseph produced a memorable spell.
Bangladesh’s victory in Darwin now stands among the most significant Test results in the country’s cricket history.
