Babar Azam starred in Pakistan’s Test series against the West Indies, finishing as the leading run-scorer and equalling the record held by former captains Imran Khan and Wasim Akram for the most Player of the Series awards by a Pakistani in international cricket.

The Pakistan captain scored 193 runs in four innings at an impressive average of 96.50. As a result, he emerged as the highest run-scorer in the two-match series.
Match-Winning Contributions
Babar scored 23 runs in the first innings of the opening Test. He then followed it with a composed half-century in the second innings.
Moreover, he played a crucial knock of 88 runs in the first innings of the second Test. His innings helped Pakistan secure a valuable 43-run first-innings lead.
In the final innings of the series, Babar remained unbeaten on 24 from 30 deliveries. He struck two fours and two sixes as Pakistan comfortably chased the 75-run target.
Joint Player of the Series
Consequently, Babar shared the Player of the Series award with West Indies all-rounder Justin Greaves. Greaves scored 111 runs in four innings and also claimed seven wickets during the series.
The honour marked Babar’s first-ever Player of the Series award in Test cricket. It also became the 10th such award of his international career.
Historic Record Matched
Previously, Babar had won five Player of the Series awards in T20 Internationals and four in One-Day Internationals. Therefore, his latest achievement took his overall tally to 10.
With that milestone, Babar equalled the Pakistan record jointly held by Imran Khan and Wasim Akram. Meanwhile, former fast bowler Waqar Younis remains fourth on the list with nine Player of the Series awards.
Imran Khan earned eight awards in Test cricket and two in ODIs. Similarly, Wasim Akram won seven in Tests and three in ODIs. Babar’s tally now includes one in Tests, four in ODIs and five in T20 Internationals.
