Rotary District 3271: New Rotary Year Begins With Tribute at Mazar-e-Quaid

KARACHI: Rotary District 3271 officially launched its 2026–27 Rotary Year with a ceremonial visit to Mazar-e-Quaid, where District Governor Shahzad Sabir led Rotarians in paying tribute to the Founder of Pakistan ahead of the district’s formal installation ceremony on 4 July.

The ceremony, held on 1 July, brought together Shahzad Sabir, the First Lady, members of his family, senior district leadership, Rotarians and representatives of civil society. Participants laid a floral wreath at the mausoleum of Quaid-e-Azam Muhammad Ali Jinnah and offered Fateha, reaffirming their commitment to national service, unity and the ideals of Pakistan’s founder.

Rotary District 3271 described the event as a symbolic beginning to the new Rotary year, reflecting the organisation’s dedication to community service before its leadership formally assumes office.

The district’s official Installation Ceremony will take place on 4 July, when Shahzad Sabir, Assistant Governors, District Officers, Rotary Club Presidents, Secretaries and District Chairs will formally take the oath of office. Rotarians from across Sindh and Balochistan are expected to attend the event, which will also launch the district’s 2026–27 humanitarian and community service agenda.

Addressing the gathering, Shahzad Sabir said the new Rotary year begins with gratitude to the nation and a renewed commitment to serving communities across the district.

“We are beginning the new Rotary Year with the same spirit that Rotary traditions demand—expressing gratitude to our homeland and renewing the commitment of those who will serve the district during the coming year,” he said.

Sabir added that Rotary District 3271 would continue to work under Rotary International President Olayinka H. Babalola’s annual theme, “Create Lasting Impact,” and Rotary’s global motto, “Service Above Self,” to deliver meaningful and sustainable change in communities.

He said the district’s priorities for the 2026–27 Rotary year include supporting the eradication of polio, expanding Smart Villages, promoting education and literacy, improving access to clean water and sanitation, and strengthening disease prevention initiatives throughout Sindh and Balochistan.

Rotary District 3271 represents Rotary Clubs across Sindh and Balochistan and forms part of Rotary International’s global network of more than 1.2 million members dedicated to humanitarian service, peacebuilding and sustainable community development.

The Mazar-e-Quaid ceremony was hosted by Muhammad Hanif Khan of the Rotary Club Karachi Bay, a former District Governor of Rotary District 3271.
