Saif Ali Khan: Bollywood actor Saif Ali Khan has revealed new details about the knife attack at his Mumbai home, saying his younger son, Jehangir (Jeh), was also injured during the incident in January 2025.
According to Indian media reports, the attacker allegedly entered the actor’s residence in Mumbai’s Bandra area with the apparent intention of committing theft. During the confrontation, Saif Ali Khan suffered six stab wounds, including one dangerously close to his spine, and was rushed to hospital for emergency treatment.
Speaking publicly about the incident, the actor said the traumatic memories continue to affect him more than a year later. He also reflected on whether he could ever forgive the man who attacked him and his family.
Saif Ali Khan said he rushed to his son’s room after hearing a commotion inside the house. There, he found an intruder holding a knife and his young son. He said the attacker had also caused minor injuries to Jeh and a domestic worker during the confrontation.
The actor explained that the intruder had entered the house through a bathroom window. He recalled that his wife alerted him after discovering a man inside their son’s room demanding money. He immediately confronted the suspect in an attempt to protect his family.
Saif Ali Khan said he later wondered whether he might have been able to calm the intruder by speaking to him if the circumstances had been different. However, he stressed that everything happened within seconds, leaving him no time to think before reacting instinctively.
The actor admitted that forgiving the attacker remains extremely difficult. He said many people encourage forgiveness after traumatic events, but doing so becomes far more challenging when someone threatens the lives of your children and family.
He added that he had wanted to forgive the attacker because he believed the man had made a grave mistake and may not have intended to kill him. However, he said it was difficult to overlook an attack that nearly claimed his life.
Saif Ali Khan also described the incident as a reflection of the wider gap between those with resources and those living in deprivation, saying such inequalities can contribute to desperate situations.
Although life has gradually returned to normal, the actor said the incident has permanently changed his outlook. He added that protecting his family and ensuring their safety has become his highest priority.
