Gilgit Baltistan Elections Show PPP Lead

The Gilgit Baltistan Elections have placed the Pakistan Peoples Party ahead in the early count. According to unofficial and unconfirmed results, the party has won six seats from the constituencies announced so far.

Meanwhile, vote counting continues across all 24 general seats of the Gilgit-Baltistan Assembly. Therefore, the overall picture could still change as more results become available.

PPP Gains Ground Across Key Constituencies

The Gilgit Baltistan Elections have produced encouraging results for the Pakistan Peoples Party. The party secured victories in several important constituencies across the region.

In GBA-4 Nagar, PPP candidate Muhammad Ali Akhtar won with 7,670 votes. Similarly, PPP’s Nasir Ali Khan secured victory in GBA-10 Skardu IV after receiving 6,582 votes.

Moreover, Iqbal Hassan won GBA-11 Kharmang for the PPP with 6,141 votes. In addition, Imran Nadeem captured GBA-12 Shigar after obtaining 12,179 votes.

Tauqir Mehdi Shah also delivered a victory for the PPP in GBA-7 Skardu. Likewise, Syed Jalal Shah won GBA-19 with 9,613 votes.

PML-N Records Important Wins

The Gilgit Baltistan Elections also brought success for the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz.

In GBA-20 Ghizer II, Abdul Jahan secured victory with 6,971 votes. Meanwhile, Ibrahim Sanai won GBA-22 Ganche after receiving 12,048 votes.

Former Gilgit-Baltistan chief minister Hafeezur Rehman retained his political influence by winning GBA-2 Gilgit with 11,204 votes.

As a result, PML-N remains a significant contender despite PPP’s early lead.

MWM Opens Its Account

The Gilgit Baltistan Elections also saw Majlis-e-Wahdat Muslimeen secure a victory.

Maisam Kazim won GBA-8 Skardu with 10,474 votes. However, the contest remained close as PPP candidate Syed Muhammad Ali Shah received 10,118 votes.

Consequently, MWM established its presence in the assembly through a hard-fought victory.

Independent Candidates Perform Strongly

Independent candidates emerged as major players in the Gilgit Baltistan Elections. In fact, they secured five seats in the unofficial results announced so far.

Naqnam Karim won GBA-6 Hunza with 6,390 votes. Likewise, Syed Sohail Abbas claimed victory in GBA-3 Gilgit after securing 7,853 votes.

Furthermore, Dr. Asad won GBA-24 with 8,092 votes. Anwar Ali also secured GBA-23 by obtaining 12,090 votes.

Meanwhile, Imam Malik won GBA-16 Diamer with 6,664 votes. Therefore, independents could play an important role in post-election political alignments.

Gilgit Baltistan Elections Count Continues

The Gilgit Baltistan Elections remain underway as election officials continue counting votes in the remaining constituencies.

According to the unofficial results available so far, PPP leads with six seats. Meanwhile, PML-N has secured three seats, MWM has won one seat, and independent candidates have captured five constituencies.

However, election authorities have not yet released final official results. Therefore, the political landscape may shift as counting concludes across the remaining seats.

What Early Results Indicate

The Gilgit Baltistan Elections suggest a competitive contest among major political parties and independent candidates.

For now, PPP holds the advantage in the early count. Nevertheless, the final outcome will become clear only after complete results from all constituencies are announced.
