Liaquat National Hospital, ICCBS-UoK Join Hands to Boost Clinical Research and Medical Innovation in Pakistan

KARACHI: Liaquat National Hospital and International Center for Chemical and Biological Sciences have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to strengthen collaboration in biomedical research, scientific innovation, and advanced clinical trials aimed at improving healthcare outcomes in Pakistan.

The agreement marks a major step toward fostering strategic cooperation between two of the country’s leading healthcare and research institutions. The partnership will focus on joint research initiatives, knowledge sharing, translational medicine, and the development of internationally aligned clinical trial infrastructure.

Under the MoU, both institutions will collaborate on multidisciplinary research projects designed to address critical healthcare challenges and promote evidence-based medical advancements. The agreement also aims to support the training and capacity building of healthcare professionals, researchers, faculty members, and students through collaborative academic and scientific programs.

Speaking at the signing ceremony, Prof. Dr. Salman Faridi, Medical Director of Liaquat National Hospital, emphasized the need to integrate clinical expertise with cutting-edge scientific research to improve patient care and treatment outcomes across the country.

He highlighted the importance of advanced clinical trials in addressing Pakistan’s evolving healthcare needs and stressed that collaborative research would help accelerate medical innovation and evidence-based therapies.

Prof. Dr. M. Raza Shah, Director of ICCBS, reaffirmed the institution’s commitment to promoting innovative scientific research and creating opportunities for impactful healthcare collaborations. He noted that partnerships between research institutions and hospitals are essential for strengthening Pakistan’s healthcare ecosystem and enhancing the country’s scientific capabilities.

Officials from both organizations expressed confidence that the collaboration would open new avenues for high-quality clinical research, innovation, and healthcare advancement while contributing to the development of modern medical infrastructure in Pakistan.

The MoU signing ceremony was attended by senior management representatives, researchers, and faculty members from both institutions.
