Pakistan’s star batter Babar Azam has been ruled out of the first Test match against Bangladesh due to a knee injury, the team management confirmed on Thursday.
According to officials, Babar is currently suffering from a knee issue that has forced him out of the opening Test, which is scheduled to begin tomorrow in Mirpur, Dhaka.
The team management stated that Pakistan’s medical staff is closely monitoring his condition and further updates regarding his recovery and availability will be shared in due course.
The absence of Babar Azam comes as a significant setback for Pakistan as they prepare for their second series in the ICC Test Championship cycle.
Meanwhile, captain Shan Masood has indicated that the pitch prepared for the Test appears to be favorable for fast bowlers. He added that the final playing XI will be decided after a last assessment of the surface conditions.
Pakistan will now have to adjust their batting lineup as they aim to start the series on a strong note despite the setback.
