7th BUHSCK International Conference Emphasizes Paradigm Shift in Healthcare

Karachi: The 7th BUHSCK International Conference, themed “Lifestyle Medicine: A Paradigm Shift in Healthcare,” was held on May 29, 2025, at the Ibn-e-Sina Auditorium of Bahria University Health Sciences Campus (BUHSC), Karachi. The event brought together renowned national and international medical experts to discuss the growing significance of lifestyle medicine in transforming global healthcare practices.
Vice Chancellor of Dow University of Health Sciences, Karachi, Prof. Dr. Jahan Ara Hasan, graced the occasion as the chief guest. In her keynote address, she stressed the vital need to embrace lifestyle medicine, stating, “It is not merely an alternative; it is the essential paradigm shift that empowers individuals and redefines our approach to chronic disease prevention and management.”
She further emphasized the integration of evidence-based lifestyle interventions into mainstream healthcare to reduce the burden on healthcare systems and support sustainable well-being.
Vice Admiral (R) Ather Mukhtar HI(M), Director General of BUHSC Karachi, delivered the welcome address. He expressed enthusiasm for the collaborative nature of the event, saying, “We are thrilled to bring together such a distinguished group to delve into the profound impact of lifestyle medicine. This conference serves as a vital platform for sharing knowledge, fostering innovation, and advancing a holistic approach to global health.”

Major General (R) Shehla Baqai HI(M), Dean Health Sciences & Principal Medical College, delivered the closing remarks. She stated, “Lifestyle medicine is redefining healthcare by focusing on prevention and holistic well-being. Let us embrace this shift for a healthier tomorrow.”
