2025 Aurora Tech Award Opens for Applications, Empowering Women in Tech

Karachi: The 2025 Aurora Tech Award has officially opened for applications, inviting women tech entrepreneurs from across the globe to showcase their innovations. This prestigious award, established in 2020, aims to recognize and empower women founders of IT startups, driving forward cutting-edge solutions and breaking barriers in the tech industry.

What’s New in 2025?

This year’s award offers expanded opportunities, increased financial support, and a strengthened commitment to nurturing the next generation of women tech leaders. Some key updates include:

1. Increased Prize Fund

The prize pool has been significantly boosted to better support women innovators:

  • 1st Prize: $30,000
  • 2nd Prize: $20,000
  • 3rd Prize: $15,000
  • 4th Prize: $10,000
  • 5th Prize: $10,000

2. Enhanced Evaluation Process

The evaluation process has been refined into three stages: longlist, midlist, and shortlist. From an initial pool, 100 participants will move to a pitching round, with 15 advancing to the final stage.

3. Expanded Mentorship Program

Shortlisted participants will benefit from a 2 to 2.5-month mentoring program with leading industry experts, offering critical insights to refine their projects and enhance their business strategies.

Empowering Women in Tech

Asya Vildt, Operations Excellence and Sustainability Director at inDrive, emphasized the importance of women in tech leadership, stating: “Supporting women in tech isn’t just about leveling the playing field; it’s about unlocking the full potential of innovation. At inDrive, we are committed to creating opportunities that empower women to lead in technology, as their success drives positive change across industries and communities.”

Eligibility Criteria

To apply, women entrepreneurs must meet the following criteria:

  • Leadership: The startup must be founded or co-founded and led by a woman.
  • Funding: The startup should not have received more than $4 million in funding.
  • Startup Age: The company must be no older than 5 years.
  • Product Stage: A minimum viable product (MVP) is required; idea-stage projects will not be considered.

Applications are open from September 2 to November 21, 2024. Interested participants can submit their entries via the Aurora Tech Award website.
