Ziauddin University Ends Breast Cancer Awareness Month with Inspiring Poster Competition

Karach: Ziauddin University wrapped up its month-long breast cancer awareness campaign with a creative poster competition aimed at breaking taboos and fostering open conversations about breast cancer. This initiative encouraged students and faculty to engage in dialogues that promote timely medical intervention, early detection, and screening, ultimately empowering individuals to seek support without fear or stigma.

Empowering Dialogue on Breast Cancer

Acting Vice Chancellor of Ziauddin University, Prof. Dr. Abbas Zafar, praised participants for their dedication, stating, “This campaign is more than an event; it’s a powerful call to action. Breast cancer awareness is essential for everyone, as this disease claims nearly 40,000 lives each year in Pakistan. Breaking down taboos will help us build a healthier future.”

He also urged ongoing efforts, saying, “If universities and colleges nationwide commit to such awareness campaigns, we can save lives, prevent tragedies, and create lasting change for health and societal challenges alike.”

Highlights of the Poster Competition

The poster competition saw over 200 submissions from all Ziauddin University campuses. After a careful selection, 45 digital and 10 handmade posters were showcased, reflecting the participants’ creativity and commitment to raising awareness.

Winning Entries and Judging Panel

The winners included:

  • 1st Place: Marya Darugar, College of Dentistry
  • 2nd Place: Hudabiya Naaz, College of Rehabilitation Sciences
  • 3rd Place: Kashaf Diam, College of Medical Technology

Judges awarded cash prizes to the top participants. The panel included Xenab Ansari, Founder of The Power Circle; Nomaan Bhatti, Assistant Professor of Communication Design at Indus Valley School of Art & Architecture; and Mathew Fitzpatrick, International Faculty & Principal of the College of Podiatric Medicine at Ziauddin University.

Ziauddin University’s event succeeded in promoting awareness, community engagement, and the need for ongoing health education on critical issues like breast cancer.
