President Asif Ali Zardari on Thursday urged the nation to work together for a stronger federation and a stable economy.
He spoke at a public gathering in Moro city, Naushahro Feroze district. During the visit, he met local notables and elected representatives at the residence of Sindh Home Minister Ziaul Hasan Lanjar.
“We will strengthen the establishment, strengthen ourselves and strengthen Pakistan together,” Zardari said.
Zardari said Pakistan must achieve food self-sufficiency and improve economic stability.
He said the government wanted to increase per-acre crop production, raise farmers’ incomes and improve living standards across the country.
The president added that the government understood public difficulties and was working on long-term solutions for future generations.
Zardari said development projects in Gwadar would create positive economic change in Balochistan and other parts of Pakistan.
He also said his party would continue working under the 1973 Constitution and take steps to empower citizens.
The president paid tribute to the Bhutto family and said former prime minister Zulfikar Ali Bhutto, former prime minister Benazir Bhutto, Murtaza Bhutto and Shahnawaz Bhutto sacrificed their lives for Pakistan.
“We exist because of Pakistan,” he said.
Zardari criticised India for alleged injustices against Muslims. He claimed Indian media restrictions prevented wider coverage of these issues.
He also criticised Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi and accused him of denying rights to people in occupied Kashmir.
Referring to the May 2025 conflict, Zardari said Pakistan showed its military strength during the four-day escalation with India.
He claimed Pakistan shot down eight Indian aircraft during the conflict.
The president added that Pakistan avoided further escalation despite having the ability to cause greater damage.
