ANKARA: The Embassy of Pakistan in Ankara hosted a solemn yet spirited event to observe Youm-e-Tashakur (Day of Gratitude), attended by members of the Pakistani community and dignitaries. The day commemorates Pakistan’s resolute response to Indian aggression through Operation Bunyan-um-Marsoos and Marka-e-Haq, and honors the Armed Forces and people of Pakistan.

Remembering a Historic Victory

Speaking at the occasion, Ambassador Dr. Yousaf Junaid underscored the significance of the day. He recalled how, following the Pahalgam attack in Indian Illegally Occupied Jammu and Kashmir (IIOJK), Pakistan called for a neutral and credible international investigation—a move welcomed by the global community. However, India refused to cooperate and launched unprovoked attacks on Pakistani soil, resulting in the loss of innocent civilian lives, including women and children.

“This was not merely an act of war—it was a flagrant violation of international law and humanitarian principles,” said Ambassador Junaid.

Operation Bunyan-um-Marsoos: A Strategic Response

The ambassador highlighted that Pakistan, exercising its sovereign right to self-defense, launched Operation Bunyan-um-Marsoos in response to attacks on its military airbases. The operation targeted critical military assets in India and marked a defining moment in the country’s military history. It successfully neutralized imminent threats and thwarted enemy plans.

Solidarity from Turkey

Ambassador Junaid expressed heartfelt appreciation to the people of Turkey and their leadership under President Recep Tayyip Erdogan, for their unwavering support during Pakistan’s difficult hour. “The Turkish nation stood shoulder-to-shoulder with Pakistan, exemplifying the strength of our brotherly ties,” he said.

Tribute to Pakistan’s Unity and Resilience

In his concluding remarks, the ambassador paid tribute to the political leadership, the Armed Forces of Pakistan, and the Pakistani nation, for their unity, courage, and determination. He lauded their role in safeguarding the country’s sovereignty and turning a moment of crisis into a historic triumph.
