Karachi: Pakistan’s leading technology firm Viper Group celebrated three decades of operations at a ceremony held in connection with the government’s nationwide AI Week initiative, highlighting the country’s growing focus on artificial intelligence.
Speaking at the event, Viper Group Chief Executive Officer Khushnood Aftab said the company has been providing hardware, software and professional training services for the past 30 years. He announced the launch of an AI-powered personal computer and revealed that the company’s software solutions have now been integrated with artificial intelligence capabilities.
He added that Viper Group is also offering specialised AI training programmes, noting that only a limited number of organisations in Pakistan are simultaneously working on AI across hardware, software and training sectors.
Government Push for AI Growth
The ceremony was also addressed by Faisal Jadoon, CEO of the Pakistan Software Export Board (PSEB), who said AI Week was observed across the country to showcase Pakistani companies working in artificial intelligence and connect them with global markets.
He stated that the initiative is being conducted under the patronage of Shehbaz Sharif and Minister of State for IT Shaza Fatima Khawaja.
According to Jadoon, the government’s objective is to demonstrate that AI should be viewed as a catalyst for new employment opportunities rather than a threat to existing jobs. He added that various training programmes are being rolled out to equip young people with modern digital skills, enabling them to access better employment prospects and freelancing opportunities.
International Participation and Outreach
Officials said more than 120 international delegates attended the central ceremony, commending the performance and potential of Pakistani technology firms. Over 90 events were organised nationwide as part of AI Week, alongside international engagements in London and other global hubs.
Authorities maintained that the joint efforts of the government and private sector aim to secure Pakistan’s position in the rapidly expanding global AI market and boost information technology exports.
The initiative reflects broader ambitions to ensure Pakistan plays a meaningful role in the next wave of global artificial intelligence development.
