Liverpool: Uzbekistan delivered a record-breaking performance at the World Boxing Championships 2025, concluding the tournament with 11 medals, including six golds, two silvers, and three bronzes.
The competition, held from September 4 to 14, marked the first senior world championship under the newly formed World Boxing body. It featured 540 athletes from 68 countries, competing in 20 medal events across men’s and women’s divisions.
Uzbekistan’s men’s team dominated the championship, securing six gold medals and one silver, finishing first in the men’s rankings. Notably, every men’s gold medal was won by either Uzbek or Kazakh fighters, underscoring Central Asia’s grip on the sport.
Among the standout performers were Turabek Khabibullaev and Fazliddin Erkinboev, who captured their first world titles, while Asadkhudja Muydinkhujaev and Abdumalik Khalokov became two-time world champions. For debutants Khabibullaev, Akmaljon Isroilov, Javokhir Ummataliev, and Erkinboev, the gold medal triumph came in their very first senior appearance.
The women’s squad also contributed to the medal tally with one silver and three bronze medals, equalling their best-ever world championship result and signaling steady growth in Uzbekistan’s women’s boxing.
Uzbekistan’s six gold medals in Liverpool represent the nation’s best-ever showing at a single world championship, cementing its reputation as a global boxing powerhouse.
