US President Advisor encourages arts, culture collaboration in Pakistan

Karachi: Pakistan Council on Foreign Relations (PCFR) with the Collaboration with DG, Ministry of Foreign Affairs hosted a dinner in honour of Shahid Ahmed Khan, Advisor to the US President on Arts and to bid farewell to Dr. June Kuncoro Hadiningrat, Consul General of the Indonesia and Narut Soontarodom, Consul General of Thailand at Ahsan Mukhtar Zubairi residence. Shahid Ahmed Khan, Advisor to the US President on Arts, has expressed his keen interest in working in Pakistan’s arts and culture sector, asserting there are no significant security issues hindering such collaborations. This statement was made during a reception organized by the Foreign Affairs Liaison Office Karachi and the Pakistan Council on Foreign Relations (PCFR) to honor Khan and bid farewell to Dr. June KuncoroHadiningrat, Consul General of Indonesia in Karachi, and NarutSoontarodom, Consul General of Thailand.

The event, hosted by AhsanMukhtarZuberi, Founder and Secretary General of PCFR, and former Ambassador Syed Hassan Habib, saw attendance from numerous diplomats, businessmen, and notable figures from various sectors. Shahid Ahmed Khan highlighted the robust and multifaceted US-Pakistan relations, mentioning the recent $110 million investment in educational and cultural heritage projects.

He emphasized the role of arts in strengthening bilateral ties and acting as a cultural bridge between the two nations. Muhammad IrfanSoomro, Director General, Liaison Office Karachi, praised the contributions of the diplomats, stating that their efforts have significantly advanced mutual goals and strengthened international friendships.

He acknowledged Shahid Ahmed Khan’s dedication to fostering US-Pakistan relations through art and cultural exchange. Dr. June KuncoroHadiningrat, in his farewell speech, expressed gratitude to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and PCFR, noting the strong diplomatic, cultural, and trade relations between Pakistan and Indonesia.

He emphasized the potential for increased trade between the two countries. NarutSoontarodom, Consul General of Thailand, highlighted the growing trade relations and cultural exchange between Pakistan and Thailand. He appreciated the hospitality of the Pakistani people and expressed confidence in the continued strengthening of bilateral ties. The PCFR, based in Karachi, is a non-profit think tank dedicated to promoting policy-oriented research and dialogue on international relations, economy, foreign policy, global politics, security, culture, and law.
