Karachi students develop Thekaydaar.PK to connect customers with reliable contractors.
Students of the Software Department at Aligarh Institute of Technology (AIT), Karachi, have developed Thekaydaar.PK, a mobile application designed to help people find reliable contractors for construction and renovation projects.
The app aims to replace the traditional search for contractors through personal contacts and word-of-mouth recommendations. Instead, users can post project details and receive quotations from multiple contractors through one digital platform.
Users can post details of construction and renovation projects on the app. These projects can include house, shop or room construction and other related work.

Contractors can then submit their quotations and proposals. Users can compare the available offers and choose a contractor based on their requirements and budget.
The platform also offers an online agreement facility. Users and contractors can finalize an agreement before work begins and save the document for future reference.
The app also introduces a stage-based payment mechanism. Users can make an initial payment when work starts and another payment during the intermediate stage.
The remaining amount can then be paid after the contractor completes the project. This system aims to improve financial transparency and reduce disputes over payments.
Thekaydaar.PK also includes CNIC-based contractor verification. The feature can help users make more informed decisions before hiring a contractor.
In addition, users can rate contractors after completing their projects. This rating system can help customers assess the experience and reliability of contractors on the platform.
The platform could also benefit small-scale contractors by connecting them with new customers and job opportunities.
Instead of relying only on personal contacts, contractors can use the platform to showcase their services and compete for construction projects. Meanwhile, citizens can compare multiple options without searching for contractors through separate channels.
Software Department students Kashif and Ali Haider developed the project under the supervision of Sir Hafiz Abdul Moez Ahmed.
The students said their objective was to make construction work easier, more organised and more reliable through technology. They also said the platform could support ordinary citizens while creating new employment and business opportunities for small contractors.
Tasneem Arzu, Head of the Software Department, said the students’ project represents an important step towards bringing digital technology into Pakistan’s construction sector.
She added that the application offers a modern solution to a common public problem by connecting customers and contractors through a structured digital platform.
The project highlights how student-led technology initiatives can address everyday challenges and create practical digital solutions for local communities.
