Tharparkar Camel Attack Case Sparks Outrage, Two Suspects Arrested

Authorities take action after brutal attack on camel in Chachro, as government orders strict punishment and medical care for injured animal.

Tharparkar: A camel in the Chachro area of Tharparkar was severely injured after being attacked with iron rods for entering a field, resulting in the loss of both eyes. Police have arrested two suspects and registered a case.

According to a report submitted to the Chief Minister of Sindh by Secretary Livestock Kazim Jatoi, the injured camel’s condition has stabilized after treatment. The animal is now able to stand, walk, and consume food.

Chief Minister Sindh Syed Murad Ali Shah took notice of the incident and ordered strict legal action against those responsible. He directed that the camel be provided with round-the-clock medical care until full recovery and instructed veterinary experts to attempt restoration of the left eye through surgery.

He stated that cruelty against animals cannot be tolerated in a civilized society, calling the incident deeply distressing. He added that those involved in the attack will be punished under the law.

The Livestock Department confirmed that the 13-year-old camel suffered complete loss of vision in the right eye, while the left eye is severely swollen and infected. The animal also sustained multiple injuries on its body.

A specialized veterinary team has been deployed to the affected village, and the camel is being treated with antibiotics, pain management medication, and nutritional support. Officials said its condition is being monitored through daily medical examinations.

The Deputy Commissioner of Tharparkar also visited the site to review the ongoing treatment and met with the animal’s owner as part of the official response to the incident.
