Karachi: Sindh Madressatul Islam University (SMIU) organized a rally on Thursday to commemorate the first anniversary of “Marka-e-Haq,” with Vice Chancellor Dr. Mujeeb Sahrai leading the event alongside faculty members, administrative officers, and a large number of students.
The rally began from the university’s main building and concluded near the IT Tower of SMIU. Participants included university deans Dr. Jamshed Adil Halepoto, Dr. Abdul Hafeez Khan, Dr. Stephen John, chairpersons of academic departments, heads of administrative sections, faculty members, officers, and students.
Addressing the participants, Vice Chancellor Dr. Mujeeb Sahrai said that Pakistan’s Armed Forces displayed bravery and professionalism during the conflict in May last year, stating that the country successfully defended itself against Indian aggression and strengthened its international standing.
He stated that Pakistan responded in accordance with international laws and principles while defending its sovereignty. According to him, several friendly countries acknowledged Pakistan’s response and its commitment to regional stability.
Dr. Sahrai congratulated Pakistan’s Armed Forces and Field Marshal Asim Munir on the completion of one year of “Marka-e-Haq,” praising what he described as the patriotic spirit and professionalism demonstrated during the conflict.
Referring to the vision of Muhammad Ali Jinnah, he said Pakistan has consistently advocated peaceful coexistence and dialogue for resolving regional disputes, including Kashmir and water-related issues.
The Vice Chancellor also praised the role of Pakistani media during the conflict, stating that national media effectively presented Pakistan’s perspective to the international community. In contrast, he criticized sections of Indian media for allegedly spreading misinformation.
Addressing students, Dr. Sahrai emphasized the importance of youth participation in national development and security. He urged students to contribute positively toward the country’s progress and advised faculty members to help develop responsible, skilled, and intellectually mature graduates.
The rally concluded with participants expressing solidarity with Pakistan’s Armed Forces and reaffirming commitment to national unity and development.
