KARACHI: Sindh Basketball Association has unanimously elected former Sindh government secretary Ali Hasan Brohi as its president, while Dleep Singh of Mirpur Khas was elected secretary during the association’s elections held in Karachi.
The election meeting took place on June 29 under the supervision of the Pakistan Basketball Federation (PBF). PBF Secretary Khalid Bashir chaired the proceedings, which were attended by representatives from all six divisional basketball associations of Sindh.
The newly elected office-bearers include Yaqoob Qadry (Karachi) as Senior Vice President, Arshad Saeed (Sukkur) as Vice President, Raja Sheeraz (Hyderabad) as Treasurer, Sahir Hussain (Larkana) as Executive Member and Shabbir Chandio (Benazirabad) as Executive Member.
Speaking after his election, President Ali Hasan Brohi said the association would focus on promoting basketball among young people and girls across the province, with particular emphasis on developing the sport in Sindh’s interior districts.
Secretary Dleep Singh thanked members for their confidence and said the association would soon unveil a development programme after consultations with the newly elected executive committee.
The newly elected leadership reaffirmed its commitment to strengthening basketball across Sindh through grassroots development, talent promotion and greater participation at the provincial level.
