The former Pakistan captain said poor roads and sanitation problems influenced his decision to move to Islamabad with his family.

He added that he has repeatedly highlighted concerns about Karachi’s worsening infrastructure.

Speaking during a recent interview after returning to Karachi following several months away, Afridi said he expected to see visible improvements across the city.

Instead, he found little progress.

“I was visiting Korangi and I don’t understand how we can generate billions of rupees in business from you, while this city provides employment to millions of people, yet I feel ashamed when I see the condition of Karachi,” he said.

Afridi explained that he returned with hopes of seeing major development and construction projects.

However, he said the overall situation remained largely unchanged.

He specifically referred to Korangi, the SITE industrial area and University Road.

According to Afridi, these areas have struggled with infrastructure and development problems for many years.

Furthermore, he urged the authorities to prioritize Karachi’s development.

He also called for practical measures to improve roads, sanitation and public services.

Finally, Afridi expressed hope that Karachi would receive the attention it deserves and regain its position as Pakistan’s economic hub.
