Security Forces Kill Wanted Terrorist Commander in North Waziristan Operation

Security forces killed a highly wanted terrorist commander along with four other militants during an intelligence-based operation in the Spinwam area of North Waziristan, security sources said on Thursday.

According to officials, the operation targeted terrorist commander Umar alias Jan Mir alias Tor Saqib. Authorities had placed a Rs3 million bounty on him.

Security sources said the militant commander masterminded several attacks on security forces and civilians.

Security Forces Targeted Militant Hideouts

Officials stated that security personnel surrounded the militants during a coordinated operation and successfully neutralised them.

Sources added that the terrorists had built underground bunkers, tunnels, and explosive traps near Bobali Mosque in Spinwam.

Security experts described the killing of the commander as a major success in ongoing counter-terrorism operations.

They said the operation could improve security conditions in the region and weaken militant networks operating in the area.

Anti-Terror Operations Continue in Region

The latest development comes two days after the Inter-Services Public Relations announced that security forces killed 22 terrorists during a sanitisation operation in North Waziristan.

The military said security forces launched the operation in the Shewa area after receiving credible intelligence about the presence of militants.

According to ISPR, the militants belonged to the Indian-sponsored Fitna al-Khawarij group.

Security personnel also recovered weapons and ammunition during the operation.

Terror Attacks Decline in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa

Pakistan Institute for Conflict and Security Studies recently reported a decline in terrorist attacks in April.

The report stated that 85 verified attacks occurred in April compared to 146 in March, showing a 42 per cent decrease.

Fatalities from terrorist incidents also dropped from 106 to 60 during the same period.

However, the report noted that overall conflict-related deaths still reached 291 in April, including militants, civilians, and security personnel.
