Karachi: Former national champion Sadia Gul of Sui Northern Gas Pipelines Limited (SNGPL) claimed the women’s title at the National Junior and Women’s Squash Championship, held at the PSF Jahangir Khan Squash Complex. The event, worth Rs. 800,000, was organized by the Sindh Squash Association in collaboration with the Pakistan American Business Council.

Sadia, 27, wife of former national champion Farhan Zaman and mother of a daughter, delivered a dominant performance to defeat Sindh’s Damia Khan in straight games — 11-8, 12-5, 11-6 — in a one-sided final.

In the boys’ categories, Sindh’s third seed Huzaifa Shahid triumphed in the U-15 final after a nail-biting 3-2 win against Khyber Pakhtunkhwa’s Danish Sikandar.

Top seed Raheel Victor of Sindh secured the boys’ U-13 title by beating KP’s Fahad Khan 3-1, while Aban Khan defeated Muhammad Bin Naseem 3-1 to win the U-9 event.

More than 100 players from departments and provinces, including WAPDA and the Pakistan Army, took part in the championship.

US Consul General in Karachi Scott Urbom was the chief guest at the closing ceremony. Squash legend Jahangir Khan and Sindh Squash Association President Adnan Asad also attended and distributed prizes to the winners.
