ISLAMABAD: Rana Ihsaan Afzal Khan, the official spokesperson of the government and Coordinator to the Prime Minister, announced that the government is actively working to provide more relief to the public regarding electricity bills. Speaking at the opening ceremony of Mobiz’s regional office in Islamabad, Rana promised that good news regarding electricity relief is imminent.

Government Negotiates with IPPs for Reduced Capacity Charges

Rana revealed that the government is negotiating with Independent Power Plants (IPPs) to reduce their capacity charges by using local coal. Additionally, the government has allocated Rs 50 billion to offer relief on electricity bills for lower-income individuals. Prominent business leaders, media representatives, and government officials attended the event.

Prime Minister’s Plans for Economic Relief and Reforms

Rana emphasized that Prime Minister Shahbaz Sharif is aware of the public’s difficulties and is working to provide relief to the salaried class. The federal government is also focused on reducing expenses, promoting exports, and privatizing institutions such as PIA and power distribution companies. Rana expressed hope that privatizing electricity distribution companies will minimize energy losses. He noted that the government had to make the unpopular decision of increasing taxes on the salaried class due to its commitments under the IMF program.

Mobiz Launches Regional Office in Islamabad

Mr. Hamad Riaz, CEO of Mobiz, expressed excitement about opening the company’s regional office in Islamabad, highlighting the city’s strategic importance. He noted that Mobiz’s presence in Pakistan will support the IT industry’s progress by providing innovative solutions.
