Rahat Fateh Ali Khan Enthralls Fans at Karachi Concert

KARACHI: Renowned Pakistani singer and qawwali maestro Rahat Fateh Ali Khan delivered a memorable performance at a grand musical evening held at Prem Nagar “Land of Love” in Karachi, captivating thousands of music enthusiasts with a selection of his most celebrated songs.

The concert attracted a large audience that remained engaged throughout the evening, singing along to some of the artist’s biggest hits. Several notable figures from Pakistan’s entertainment and fashion industries, including Sunita Marshall, Deepak Perwani, and Ali Khan, were among those in attendance.

Speaking during the event, Rahat Fateh Ali Khan expressed his appreciation for Karachi’s music lovers, saying that performing in the city always brings him immense joy due to the audience’s passion and admiration for music.

A Career Spanning Decades

Rahat Fateh Ali Khan began performing publicly in 1979 at the age of nine during the death anniversary of his grandfather. He later became an integral member of the qawwali ensemble led by his uncle, Nusrat Fateh Ali Khan, accompanying him on international tours, including performances in the United Kingdom during the 1980s.

His breakthrough in Indian playback singing came with the song Mann Ki Lagan from the film Paap, which introduced his voice to a wider audience across South Asia.

Over the years, Rahat has performed at major international venues, including Wembley Arena and Manchester Arena, where he entertained audiences numbering in the tens of thousands. His song Zaroori Tha became one of the most successful non-film music releases from the subcontinent, eventually surpassing one billion views online.

His international collaborations include contributions to the soundtracks of films such as Dead Man Walking, The Four Feathers, and Apocalypto. He also gained widespread recognition for songs including Teri Ore.

Rahat has additionally served as a judge on popular television music competitions and achieved another milestone in 2014 when he became the first Pakistani artist to perform at the Nobel Peace Prize Concert, showcasing iconic qawwalis and promoting cultural harmony through music.
