Heavy rainfall flooded several areas of Lahore’s Defence Housing Authority (DHA). As a result, former singer and social media personality Rabi Pirzada urged Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz to improve the city’s drainage system.

Viral video highlights waterlogging
Pirzada shared a video on Facebook showing standing rainwater outside her home in DHA Phase One. She captioned it, “The situation in Lahore after rain and Maryam Nawaz’s Suthra Punjab.”
In the video, she said the rainfall damaged her office and school. She also questioned the performance of the authorities responsible for drainage and sanitation. According to Pirzada, the condition of DHA worsened after the downpour.
Calls for better drainage
Moreover, Pirzada asked where the government’s drainage and sanitation resources were being used. She urged officials to respond quickly and improve rainwater management across Lahore.
Later, she clarified that she recorded the video in DHA, but similar flooding affected many other parts of the city. She added that her purpose was to highlight residents’ problems rather than criticise any particular institution.
Mixed reaction on social media
Meanwhile, the video spread widely across social media and sparked mixed reactions. Some users supported her concerns and called for better infrastructure. However, others argued that heavy rainfall often causes temporary waterlogging. They also noted that drainage teams cleared most of the standing water within a few hours.
