Karachi: A delegation from the Pakistan Tanners Association (South Zone), led by Mr. Danish Aman, Chairman PTA (S.Z), and accompanied by Hamid Zahur, Chairman PTA – Central, Ejaz Ahmed Sheikh, and Usman Umer, recently met with the former Prime Minister of Pakistan and current Chairman of the Senate, Syed Yousuf Raza Gillani.
During the meeting, key issues were discussed, including the need for government support in addressing operational and regulatory challenges, improving access to international markets, ensuring timely refunds, and providing incentives for exporters. The delegation also emphasized the importance of upgrading tanning technology and infrastructure to meet global environmental and compliance standards. Additionally, the members stressed the need for stronger public-private collaboration to tackle supply chain issues and promote sustainable growth within the leather sector.
Mr. Gillani also highlighted the importance of strengthening efforts in the livestock sector.
Appreciating the leather industry’s significant contributions to Pakistan’s economy, Mr. Syed Yousuf Raza Gillani acknowledged the challenges faced by exporters. He assured the delegation of his support in raising the industry’s concerns at relevant forums and reaffirmed the Senate’s commitment to promoting industrial growth and enhancing export competitiveness.
