Karachi faces intense heat conditions as temperatures are expected to rise sharply this week.
Karachi heat conditions are expected to intensify as the Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) warns of a significant temperature rise starting today.
The formation of a high-pressure system in the upper atmosphere is driving the forecasted increase. Moreover, the city may experience heatwave-like conditions from Wednesday to Saturday.
According to the Pakistan Meteorological Department, temperatures in Karachi could rise up to 43°C during the forecast period.
In addition, the feels-like temperature may reach around 50°C due to humidity and reduced wind flow. As a result, residents may experience extreme discomfort.
The Karachi heat is expected to feel more intense because of high humidity levels. Currently, humidity is recorded at 74 percent, which significantly increases perceived temperature.
Furthermore, reduced wind speeds are likely to worsen stuffiness across the city. Consequently, outdoor conditions may become increasingly difficult.
At present, Karachi is experiencing hot and humid weather conditions. The temperature stands at 31°C, while the feels-like temperature is around 37°C.
Westerly winds are currently blowing at 24 kilometres per hour. However, this airflow may weaken in the coming days, contributing to rising heat levels.
The Pakistan Meteorological Department has advised that conditions could resemble a heatwave between Wednesday and Saturday.
Moreover, citizens are encouraged to take precautions during peak daytime hours. The warning highlights the risk of prolonged exposure to extreme Karachi heat conditions.
Experts warn that high humidity combined with extreme temperatures can increase health risks. Therefore, vulnerable groups are advised to avoid direct sunlight.
Additionally, reduced wind circulation may slow down cooling effects in urban areas. As a result, nighttime temperatures may also remain elevated.
The forecast suggests that Karachi heat conditions will remain severe in the short term before any improvement occurs.
However, weather patterns may shift after the high-pressure system weakens. Until then, residents are likely to continue experiencing intense summer conditions.
