Islamabad: Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif on Thursday met the Ambassador of the United Arab Emirates (UAE), Hamad Obaid Ibrahim Salem Al-Zaabi, at the Prime Minister House and discussed regional developments and bilateral ties.

The Prime Minister conveyed his warm wishes to UAE President His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al-Nahyan and thanked the UAE for its continued support, calling it a reflection of the historic and brotherly ties between the two nations.

Discussing the recent Pahalgam incident, the Prime Minister strongly condemned terrorism in all forms and stressed that Pakistan itself had suffered immensely—losing over 90,000 lives and sustaining economic losses exceeding $152 billion. He said the country was actively fighting terrorism from its western border.

Rejecting India’s accusations linking Pakistan to the Pahalgam incident, the Prime Minister called them baseless and politically motivated. He reiterated that Pakistan had no involvement and had even offered a credible, transparent international investigation into the matter.

He noted that India’s aggressive posture was diverting Pakistan’s focus from counter-terrorism efforts and warned that such provocation could undermine regional stability.

Prime Minister Shehbaz emphasized Pakistan’s commitment to peace and said his government was dedicated to preserving recent economic progress, aided significantly by support from nations like the UAE. He urged the UAE and other friendly countries to help defuse regional tensions and encourage India to de-escalate.

UAE Ambassador Al-Zaabi appreciated Pakistan’s transparency and reaffirmed the UAE’s willingness to work with Pakistan for regional peace and security.
