Karachi: Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif on Monday praised the Pakistan Navy for its “resolute posture, operational dexterity, and effective deterrent response” during Operation Bunyanum Marsoos, stating it successfully countered maritime threats and protected national sovereignty.

Speaking at a gathering of Navy officers and sailors at the Pakistan Navy Dockyard, the Prime Minister commended their efforts in safeguarding sea lines of communication and ensuring the uninterrupted flow of maritime trade.

Pakistan Navy’s Vigilance Lauded

The Prime Minister said the Navy remained on high alert during recent tensions and was prepared to respond decisively in the event of Indian aggression.

“Had India dared a naval attack like in 1965, Pakistan Navy would have made history again,” he said, adding that INS Vikrant never attempted to enter even 400 nautical miles into Pakistan’s maritime territory due to Pakistan’s operational preparedness.

He highlighted Pakistan Navy’s legacy, recalling the historic Operation Dwarka, and said the force is capable of executing similar high-intensity missions whenever required.

Tri-Services Coordination a Golden Chapter

Calling the coordination among armed forces a golden chapter in national defence, Shehbaz Sharif said ground forces accurately struck enemy positions using Fatah missiles, while the Pakistan Air Force used modern technology to deliver a strong response.

He paid tribute to Army Chief General Syed Asim Munir, Air Chief Marshal Zaheer Ahmad Babar Sidhu, and Naval Chief Admiral Naveed Ashraf for their leadership. He also saluted Shaheed Lt. Yasir of PNS Mehran for his supreme sacrifice.

Ports Remained Operational Despite Tensions

PM Sharif noted that despite the regional situation, Karachi Port, Port Qasim, and the entire city remained fully operational, while India’s western coast experienced suspended commercial activities.

He said even the enemy acknowledged that Pakistan Navy had shifted the power balance in the Arabian Sea, calling it a victory for the entire nation.

International Leaders Praised for Support

The Prime Minister expressed gratitude to world leaders for supporting Pakistan during the crisis. He named Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan, Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman, UAE President Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed, Qatari Emir Sheikh Tamim, Chinese President Xi Jinping, and former US President Donald Trump.

He called Donald Trump “a man of peace” for playing a key role in defusing tensions between the two nuclear nations.

PM Briefed Aboard PNS Taimur

Upon arrival, PM Shehbaz was welcomed by Naval Chief Admiral Naveed Ashraf. He also met Army Chief General Munir and Air Chief Marshal Sidhu.

The Prime Minister boarded the Type-054 A Class Destroyer PNS TAIMUR, where he received a detailed briefing from Commander Pakistan Fleet on strategic operations and contributions of the Navy during the ongoing operation.

He praised the officers and sailors for their professionalism, combat readiness, and commitment to national defence, reaffirming the nation’s full confidence in the armed forces
