Karachi: The Pakistan Fisherfolk Forum (PFF) has vowed to take strong action for the release of Pakistani fishermen currently imprisoned in India. Mehran Ali Shah, Chairman of the PFF, will soon hold a press conference to reveal a detailed action plan for this cause.
The PFF reports that nearly 100 Pakistani fishermen are being held in Indian jails, accused of violating maritime boundaries. The organization has called for their immediate release on humanitarian grounds. These fishermen hail from regions such as Thatta, Sujawal, Jati, Keti Bunder, and Karachi.
Chairman Mehran Ali Shah affirmed that the PFF will soon meet with the families of the detained fishermen and launch a movement to secure their release.
The forum has also urged the Government of Pakistan to take swift diplomatic measures to facilitate the safe and prompt return of these fishermen, emphasizing that they are innocent victims of cross-border tensions. The PFF highlighted that these fishermen, who only seek to earn a livelihood at sea, should not be caught in the political conflicts between the two nations.
