Pakistan, UAE Hold JCC Meeting to Boost Consular Cooperation

Islamabad: The second session of the Pakistan-UAE Joint Consular Committee (JCC) was held at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in Islamabad on Tuesday, aiming to strengthen bilateral cooperation on consular affairs.
The meeting was co-chaired by Additional Foreign Secretary for the Middle East, Shehryar Akbar Khan, and Assistant Undersecretary for Consular Affairs of the UAE Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Faisal Eissa Lutfi.
During the session, both sides held wide-ranging discussions on key consular issues, including the welfare of Pakistani nationals residing in the UAE, visa facilitation, labour rights, and migration management. They expressed satisfaction with the ongoing collaboration and praised the institutional mechanisms in place for timely resolution of consular challenges.
The Pakistani side acknowledged the upward momentum in Pakistan-UAE relations, underscored by recent high-level visits by Crown Prince Sheikh Khaled bin Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan on February 27, 2025, and Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Sheikh Abdullah bin Zayed Al Nahyan on April 20–21, 2025.
Additional Foreign Secretary Shehryar Akbar Khan appreciated the UAE government’s continued support for the Pakistani community, calling it a vital bridge of friendship between the two nations. He also reiterated Pakistan’s commitment to strengthening people-to-people ties and maintaining sustained dialogue on consular matters.
Both delegations reaffirmed their commitment to regular engagement through the JCC framework to enhance mutual cooperation and safeguard the interests of their citizens.
