Pakistan Tanners Association: Sindh government and PTA discuss water crisis in Korangi industrial area

Industry leaders raise long-standing infrastructure concerns as provincial spokesperson assures follow-up meeting with Chief Minister Sindh.

Pakistan Tanners Association (Southern Zone) hosted a luncheon in Karachi in honour of Sindh government spokesperson Mir Nadir Nabil Gabol, where industry concerns—particularly the long-standing water crisis in the leather sector—were discussed in detail.

The event was held at the association office, where Chairman Dr. Danish Aman briefed the guest on infrastructure challenges in Sector 7/A of the Korangi Industrial Area. He highlighted persistent water shortages affecting the leather industry for nearly five decades.

Dr. Aman said the crisis had significantly impacted production and industrial efficiency, and he called for urgent and practical solutions to address the issue.

Pakistan Tanners Association also emphasized broader infrastructure constraints in the industrial zone, urging closer coordination between the government and business community.

Sindh government spokesperson Mir Nadir Nabil Gabol assured participants that the provincial government remained committed to supporting industrial development and facilitating the business community.

He said several projects were already underway to improve industrial conditions and confirmed that a delegation from the association would soon be invited to meet Sindh Chief Minister Syed Murad Ali Shah to specifically address the water supply issue.

The spokesperson added that the government would continue engaging with stakeholders to resolve long-standing industrial challenges through dialogue and policy intervention.

During the meeting, Dr. Aman presented a commemorative crest to the government spokesperson. In return, a government crest was presented to the association chairman as a gesture of mutual respect and cooperation.

Officials said the exchange reflected a continued effort to strengthen cooperation between industry representatives and provincial authorities.
