Islamabad: A strategic discussion, organized as a curtain raiser for the World Economic Forum (WEF) Annual Meeting in Davos 2025, took place at the Marriott Hotel, Islamabad, to promote Pakistan’s economic and social potential on a global scale. Held under the theme “Image and Investment,” the event was co-hosted by the Pathfinder Group and the Karachi Council on Foreign Relations (KCFR), spotlighting Pakistan’s expanding role in the global economy and exploring strategies to enhance its investment prospects at WEF Davos 2025.

Spotlight on the Pakistan Pavilion

Dr. Huma Baqai, Senior Vice Chairperson of KCFR, highlighted the significance of the Pakistan Pavilion at Davos, designed to present Pakistan’s achievements and opportunities to international investors and policymakers. “The Pakistan Pavilion serves as a gateway to Pakistan’s dynamic economic landscape, countering stereotypes and showcasing the nation’s strengths,” Dr. Baqai stated. She praised the Pathfinder Group for its enduring support at WEF over two decades, encouraging both government and private sector entities to support this impactful platform.

Pathfinder Group’s Signature Presence

Former President of the Swiss Business Council, Mr. Farhat Ali, shared insights from past Davos events, underscoring the value of the WEF platform for Pakistan’s business sector. “The Pathfinder Group’s iconic Pakistan breakfast at Davos has become a vital branding and networking event, enhancing Pakistan’s visibility and investment relationships,” he noted, urging private sector players to capitalize on this unique opportunity for global outreach.

Focus on Education and Human Development

Dr. Faisal Mushtaq, Chairman and CEO of Roots Millennium Education Group, emphasized the importance of education and human development as essential pillars for Pakistan’s sustainable growth. With WEF’s 2025 theme focusing on education, Dr. Mushtaq advocated for transformative educational initiatives to build a competitive and resilient workforce in Pakistan.

Prominent Leaders Advocate for Pakistan’s Global Presence

Former Caretaker Prime Minister Anwaar Ul Haq Kakar, the event’s Chief Guest, lauded Ikram Sehgal, Chairman of Pathfinder Group, for his commitment to enhancing Pakistan’s global image. “Mr. Sehgal’s initiative to represent Pakistan at WEF positions the nation as a prominent player on the global stage, fostering dialogue, investment, and partnerships,” stated Mr. Kakar.

Pakistan as a Strategic Gateway

Ikram Sehgal, Co-Chairman of Pathfinder Group and Patron-in-Chief of KCFR, highlighted Pakistan’s strategic location as a gateway to South and Central Asia. “Pakistan, surrounded by nearly five billion people, stands as a focal point of global economic activity, with rich resources and an untapped potential to be a pivotal player internationally,” Sehgal emphasized.

The event offered a preview of Pakistan’s vision for Davos 2025, where the Pakistan Pavilion will showcase the nation’s ambitions and progress, capturing global interest as a significant investment destination in the region.
