Karachi: The Pakistan Navy and Sahil Welfare Association (SWA) jointly organized a landmark Donor-NGO Conference, bringing together some of the country’s most prominent humanitarian organizations under one roof. Chaired by Commander Coast (COMCOAST) Rear Admiral Faisal Amin HI (M) and SWA Chairman Dr. Danish Aman, the event marked a pivotal step toward building a collaborative framework for long-term humanitarian support in flood-affected regions.

The conference united over 30 NGOs and welfare organizations, including renowned names like Edhi Foundation, Chhipa Welfare Association, Saylani Welfare Trust, Alkhidmat Foundation, Al Mustafa Society, NOWPDP, JDC, LRBT, Muslim Hands, and Akhuwat. Representatives from major trade associations and members of the business community also attended, reaffirming their commitment to support flood-hit communities across Pakistan.

Organizers stressed that the aim was not only to review past and ongoing relief efforts but to establish a sustainable, unified action plan for the future. “This is more than just coordination — it’s the beginning of a new era of partnership,” said Rear Admiral Faisal Amin. “Through this platform, we aim to ensure that aid reaches every deserving corner of the country, efficiently and transparently.”

Dr. Danish Aman echoed the sentiment, noting that no single organization can manage the scale of Pakistan’s humanitarian crisis alone. “Only through collective effort can we bring meaningful and lasting change to the lives of those affected,” he stated.

The conference outlined four immediate and long-term priorities:

  1. Distribution of cooked meals to displaced families.
  2. Supply of ration packs to underserved regions.
  3. Organization of medical camps to tackle urgent health concerns.
  4. Development of rehabilitation programs to help communities rebuild.

NGO representatives presented brief overviews of their operations and pledged active support for a joint strategy. There was strong consensus on data sharing, joint monitoring, and transparent reporting to maximize impact and prevent duplication of efforts.

Business leaders also praised the initiative, pledging financial and logistical assistance while emphasizing that the Pakistan Navy’s involvement ensures credibility, discipline, and strategic oversight. With the ongoing threat of monsoon-related disasters, the timing of this collaboration underscores its urgency.

The Donor-NGO Conference represents a milestone in Pakistan’s humanitarian response, demonstrating the power of unity, compassion, and shared responsibility. As the country faces the long-term consequences of climate change and recurrent flooding, this collaborative framework offers a path toward more organized, effective, and sustainable relief efforts.
