Ishaq Dar meets Pakistan’s Ambassador-designate to China Ali Asad Gilani.
Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Senator Mohammad Ishaq Dar has called for further strengthening Pakistan’s longstanding strategic partnership with China, emphasising cooperation across a wide range of economic, technological and people-focused areas.
Dar made the remarks on Saturday during a meeting with Pakistan’s Ambassador-designate to China, Ali Asad Gilani, who called on the foreign minister, according to a press release issued by the Foreign Office.
The deputy prime minister highlighted the importance of expanding bilateral cooperation in trade and investment, connectivity, the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC), agriculture, science and technology, education, and people-to-people exchanges.
The Pakistan-China partnership remains a key pillar of Islamabad’s foreign policy, with both countries maintaining close cooperation on economic development, infrastructure and regional connectivity.

During the meeting, Dar congratulated Ambassador-designate Gilani on his appointment and reaffirmed the importance Pakistan attaches to its long-standing relationship with Beijing.
He also appreciated Gilani’s services as Additional Secretary for Asia Pacific at the Foreign Office, saying his diplomatic experience would help contribute to the further development of relations between Pakistan and China.
Dar expressed confidence that Gilani would play an important role in advancing bilateral cooperation during his tenure in Beijing and wished him success in his new assignment.
The ambassador-designate’s appointment comes as Pakistan continues efforts to strengthen economic ties with China and advance cooperation under CPEC, while exploring new opportunities in trade, investment, technology, agriculture and education.
