Pakistani security personnel during a counterterrorism operation near the Pakistan-Afghanistan border under Operation Ghazab lil-Haq.

Operation Ghazab lil-Haq: Security Forces Kill 29 Militants, Says Tarar

Operation Ghazab lil-Haq: Federal Information Minister Attaullah Tarar says Pakistan’s security forces have killed 29 militants during an intelligence-based operation and follow-up precision strikes targeting terrorist hideouts along the Pakistan-Afghanistan border.

In a post on X, Tarar said the operations followed recent terrorist attacks in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Balochistan, and on a Pakistan Rangers (Sindh) camp in Karachi.

According to the minister, security forces conducted a planned intelligence-based ground operation in Bajaur on 28 June, targeting militants linked to the Indian-backed Jamaat-ul-Ahrar group and Fitna al-Khawarij.

Tarar said the operation killed senior militant commander Khan Farosh, also known as Zabal, along with three other Jamaat-ul-Ahrar militants. Several other suspects were reportedly injured.

He added that under Operation Ghazab lil-Haq, security forces launched overnight precision strikes between 28 and 29 June against militant camps and hideouts in border areas. According to the minister, the strikes targeted three locations in Paktia, Paktika, and Kunar, killing 25 militants and destroying weapons and ammunition stored at the sites.

The information minister said Pakistan remained committed to regional peace and stability but would not compromise on the safety and security of its citizens.

He added that the country’s counterterrorism campaign under the Azm-e-Istehkam strategy would continue with full force to eliminate what he described as foreign-backed terrorism.

Tarar also said militant violence in Pakistan, particularly in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and Balochistan, had increased after the Afghan Taliban returned to power in Afghanistan in 2021.

He further stated that Operation Ghazab lil-Haq had resulted in the deaths of many Afghan Taliban-linked militants and injuries to hundreds more. He added that clashes also took place along the Pakistan-Afghanistan border in October 2025 following attacks on Pakistani security posts by Afghan Taliban-linked militants.
