Karachi: Muhammad Zohaib Khan, former chairman of the Pakistan Software Houses Association for IT & ITES (P@SHA), has been honored as the Pride of Pakistan for his remarkable services to the country’s IT industry. The recognition was announced during the 78th Independence Day celebrations at Jinnah Stadium, Islamabad.

Zohaib Khan was the only P@SHA chairman and one of the few IT sector businessmen to receive this prestigious honor. With over two decades of experience, he has represented Pakistan on various international platforms, earning multiple accolades for his dedication and contribution to the nation’s technology sector.

During his leadership at P@SHA, Pakistan’s IT exports reached an all-time high of over $3.2 billion in FY24. In 2023, he successfully brought the APICTA Awards to Pakistan for the first time, promoting the country’s tech talent to regional economies. His efforts also secured IT export awards, federal and provincial tax incentives, 50% foreign exchange retention for exporters, and the launch of Tech Destination Pakistan in collaboration with policymakers and the private sector.

He modernized P@SHA’s secretariat and strengthened its research and development unit, while also enabling Pakistani IT companies to expand into GCC and European markets. Currently, Zohaib plays an active role in the Special Investment Facilitation Council (SIFC) with a vision to raise IT exports to $10 billion in the coming years, while continuing his role as brand ambassador for Tech Destination Pakistan.

Speaking at the ceremony, Zohaib Khan said:

“Pakistan’s IT industry has the potential to be a game-changer for the national economy, with consistent growth in exports and digital transformation in governance, healthcare, education, agriculture, and banking. I am deeply grateful to Pakistan and its IT industry for giving me the opportunity to serve.”

The Marka-e-Haq celebration was attended by Prime Minister Mian Shehbaz Sharif, Chief of Army Staff General Asim Munir, chiefs of armed forces, diplomats, and other dignitaries. Several other notable figures were also honored as Pride of Pakistan for their outstanding contributions in various fields.
