KARACHI: Masters Hockey World Cup organisers will welcome two Pakistani-born players to this year’s tournament after Arif Siddiqui and former Pakistan international Pervez Iqbal were selected for the United States Over-65 Masters Hockey Team.
The tournament will take place from 26 July to 16 August across four cities in the Netherlands and Belgium, bringing together 120 teams from 23 countries in six age-group categories.
For Arif Siddiqui, the selection marks his second consecutive appearance for Team USA at the Masters Hockey World Cup after representing the United States in the 2024 edition. Before joining the American side, he represented Pakistan at the 2014 Masters Hockey World Cup.
Former Pakistan international Pervez Iqbal will make his Masters Hockey World Cup debut with the United States. During his playing career, he represented Pakistan in several international competitions before becoming eligible to play for the USA Masters team.
The inclusion of two Pakistani-born players in the United States squad highlights the continued contribution of the Pakistani diaspora to international hockey and reflects the enduring legacy of Pakistan’s hockey talent on the global stage.
The Masters Hockey World Cup is expected to feature veteran players from around the world, with matches scheduled across venues in the Netherlands and Belgium over a three-week period.
