“LADIESFUND Hosts 5th Breast Cancer PowWow to Raise Awareness

Karachi: Dawood Global Foundation’s LADIESFUND, a strong advocate for women’s empowerment and health inclusivity, hosted the 5th LADIESFUND Breast Cancer PowWow. In partnership with Mrs. Samina Alvi’s Breast Cancer Task Force, the event took place at The Buraq Center by LADIESFUND in Karachi. The gathering successfully brought together healthcare stakeholders, breast cancer survivors, doctors, women entrepreneurs, and notable personalities to promote awareness and celebrate the resilience of survivors.

Keynote Speech by Dr. Samina Alvi

Dr. Samina Alvi, Former First Lady of Pakistan and Chairperson of the Breast Cancer Task Force, was the chief guest. She praised the initiative, stating, “Breast cancer is not just a women’s issue, but a societal one. Events like these play a pivotal role in breaking stigmas, encouraging early detection, and supporting survivors. I commend Dawood Global Foundation-LADIESFUND for their unwavering commitment to health inclusivity. I urge everyone to spread the word about self-examination.”

Inspiring Stories from Survivors

The event was hosted by Tara Uzra Dawood, President of LADIESFUND. It featured inspiring stories from survivors like Simi Kamil, Fauzia Khuhro, Samina Aslam, and Dr. Faizullah Abbasi. Additionally, medical professionals, family members of those who lost loved ones to breast cancer, and media personalities like Shanaz Ramzi and Saher H. Paracha shared their experiences and perspectives.

Ms. Dawood expressed her gratitude, saying, “I’m humbled to gather some of the most incredible women and minds for an action-oriented discussion on breast cancer in Pakistan.” Dr. Faizullah Abbasi’s powerful journey resonated deeply with attendees, further emphasizing the need for support and awareness.
