Karachi: The Khudi Foundation, in partnership with PLUS, Sparks Business Club, and Mariam Faisam Amin (MFA), organized a session titled “Breaking Cycles of Violence: Empowering Non-Violent Resistance for Mental Wellbeing” at its headquarters in DHA Phase 7.

The event brought together legal experts, wellness trainers, social entrepreneurs, and survivors to address gender-based violence (GBV), explore non-violent resistance, and share strategies for building resilience and mental wellbeing.

The program began with a Quran recitation and the National Anthem, followed by a series of expert talks. Speakers included Salma Habib Bhutto, Program Manager at PLUS, on legal frameworks protecting women; Sarwat Nasim Shah, Managing Director of Zaamin Group, on empowering non-violent resistance; and Syeda Raafia Hasan, Founder of Sparks Business Club, on challenges posed by GBV in digital spaces.

Altaf Hussain Khoso, CEO of PLUS, spoke about access to justice and legal remedies for survivors, while wellness trainer and “smile coach” Mariam Faisam Amin shared insights on resilience through gratitude. The session also featured a moving testimony from acid attack survivor Ahmer Iqbal, who shared his personal journey of strength and recovery.

The event concluded with a Q&A session, followed by networking and refreshments.

In its closing note, the Khudi Foundation stressed that breaking cycles of violence demands a collective response from legal, social, and wellness sectors, reinforced by community support, to ensure a safe and empowered future for all.
