Kharadar General Hospital Nursing School Hosts 17th Lamp Lighting Ceremony

Students who excelled were awarded laptops

and shields, while long-service awards were given

to dedicated faculty members and hospital staff

Karachi: At the 17th lamp lighting and oath-taking ceremony of Kharadar General Hospital School of Nursing, Dow University of Health Sciences Vice Chancellor Professor Muhammad Saeed Qureshi emphasized the importance of professional education for the youth. He stated that only by providing professional education can the country secure a brighter future. Furthermore, he highlighted the urgent need for millions of nurses to strengthen the health system. In this regard, the school plays a vital role by producing highly skilled nurses through quality education, teaching, and research. A professional nurse not only saves lives but also inspires hope and confidence among patients.

Investment in Education and Healthcare

Renowned industrialist and philanthropist Muhammad Bashir Jan Muhammad discussed the importance of investment in education and healthcare. He urged the capitalist class to serve humanity and help improve the conditions of the underprivileged. According to him, society needs quality education and accessible healthcare. He further emphasized that the only way to achieve health goals is by advancing the nursing sector.

Nursing as the Heart of the Healthcare System

Special Secretary Health Dr. Dabeer Ahmed Khan described nurses as the heart of the health system and the foundation of healthcare services. He noted that the nursing sector is considered the most ethical and trusted in the world. Dr. Khan pointed out that Pakistan needs 1 million nurses, and to develop the sector, it must align with international standards. He also called for increased efforts to promote nursing research and innovation.

Achievements of Kharadar General Hospital School of Nursing

Dr. Khalid Iqbal, CEO of the hospital, shared that over 1,100 nurses have graduated in the past 19 years. These graduates provide excellent nursing services in Pakistan and abroad. Importantly, 80% of them contribute to their families’ well-being through economic empowerment.

Contributions of the Nursing Sector to Healthcare

Director Nursing Sindh Ms. Najma Mangi praised the school for raising nursing standards through its educational and research initiatives. She stated that progress in nursing is essential to addressing the nation’s medical challenges.

Progress and Future Outlook for Nursing

Ms. Talat Parveen Shah, Director of MBJ School of Nursing, pointed out that significant improvements have occurred in the nursing field over the past two decades. She credited these advancements to practical training, community research, and ethical practices.

Fostering Leadership and Excellence

Principal Muhammad Shahid called for making the trained workforce of the school more effective. He mentioned that the school fosters nursing leadership through a variety of curricular and co-curricular activities.

Recognition for Outstanding Achievements

During the ceremony, the school awarded laptops to high-achieving students and presented shields for outstanding performance. Additionally, long-service awards were given to faculty members to recognize their dedication and commitment.
