Karachi: On August 28, Karachi celebrated the opening of the Center of Open Education. This significant project was brought to life by the Russian Center for Science and Culture in Karachi (RCSC) and Ural State Pedagogical University (USPU). The ceremony featured an open educational session that began with speeches from Ruslan Prokhorov, Director of the RCSC, and Svetlana Minyurova, Rector of USPU.

Educational Session and Media Coverage

The event included a pilot lesson in Russian as a foreign language. USPU teachers Roman Porozov and Anton Dolgov led the session, introducing attendees to the Russian alphabet and phonetics. Both RCSC regulars and local residents attended, many of whom had recently learned about the new Center.

Local media took notice of the event. Reports were shared by AUSAF Broadcasting Network and Pakistan Today. This media coverage highlighted the impact of the opening and the experiences of the Ural educators in Pakistan.

International Outreach and Future Prospects

The opening of the Center is a key development in USPU’s international strategy. This initiative complements their broader project, “Discovering the World of Russian Language and Culture.” The aim is to enhance educational and cultural exchanges between Russia and global partners. Pakistan is now a primary focus for this effort.

Previously, a similar center was established in Islamabad in August 2023. The Karachi Center of Open Education will further solidify academic and cultural ties between Pakistan and Russia. As a first joint project, USPU and Karachi universities are set to offer Russian language courses for Pakistani students from September to November.

Gratitude and Future Collaboration

Ural Pedagogical University extends its sincere thanks to Ruslan Prokhorov and his team at the RCSC. Their support was crucial for the success of the “Discovering the World of Russian Language and Culture” project. We look forward to continued collaboration and mutual growth in this exciting new chapter of international educational exchange.
