Karachi: The atmosphere at the Japanese Consulate in Karachi was filled with pride and celebration as 30 members gathered on August 6, 2025, to mark Pakistan’s 78th Independence Day.
Guests arrived in elegant green and white shalwar kameez, proudly displaying the national colors. President Tarannum Afroze warmly welcomed Acting Deputy Consul General of Japan, Mr. Nakagawa Yasushi, who delivered an emotional speech in Urdu, winning the hearts of the attendees.
The event opened with the singing of the National Anthem, followed by the distribution of Pakistani flags among members of II Karachi 204. A lively quiz added an interactive touch, with prizes awarded to winners, while patriotic songs further lifted the spirit of the celebration.
A special highlight was the display of exquisite Ikebana floral arrangements, created with white blooms and green foliage by Salma Aziz, Nafisa Tapal, Yasmeen Jabbar, and Ambreen Allawala, representing four Ikebana schools.
The program concluded with a cake-cutting ceremony and the presentation of a stunning spathe arrangement by President Tarannum Afroze to the chief guest, symbolizing friendship and cultural harmony between Pakistan and Japan.
