Italy-Pakistan Energy cooperation received renewed support as the Consulate of Italy in Karachi reaffirmed its commitment to expanding economic and commercial ties with Pakistan’s energy sector during a Business Networking Symposium and Breakfast.

The event, organised in collaboration with the Italian Development Committee (IDC), brought together senior representatives from Pakistan’s oil, gas and energy industries.
Participants discussed investment opportunities, strengthened business dialogue and explored new avenues for bilateral cooperation.
Consul Highlights Investment Potential
Delivering the keynote address, Italian Consul Fabrizio Bielli thanked participants for bringing together key stakeholders from both countries.
He said the energy sector remains a cornerstone of economic development and plays a vital role in the global transition toward sustainable and resilient energy systems.
Furthermore, he highlighted Pakistan’s efforts to modernise its energy infrastructure.
He pointed to planned investments in the refining, fertiliser and chemical sectors.
The Consul also welcomed the Cabinet Committee on Energy’s approval of amendments to the Pakistan Oil Refining Policy 2023.
He said the policy is expected to unlock nearly US$5 billion in investment while helping local refineries produce cleaner fuels that meet international standards.
Focus on Innovation and Technology
Bielli also praised Pakistan’s growing emphasis on innovation.
He highlighted initiatives in coal gasification and advanced energy storage technologies as important steps toward a diversified energy future.
Moreover, he said Italy is well-positioned to support Pakistan through its expertise in engineering, industrial technology, petrochemicals, refining, power generation and energy transition solutions.
He also acknowledged the long-standing contributions of Italian companies, including ENI, Dalmine, Tecnimont, Technip Energies and Nuovo Pignone, to Pakistan’s industrial development.
Call for Stronger Business Cooperation
The Consul said both countries have significant potential to expand cooperation in technology, engineering, industrial innovation and sustainable infrastructure.
He added that while governments create enabling policies, the private sector drives investment, trade and long-term economic growth.
In his concluding remarks, Bielli reaffirmed the Italian Mission’s commitment to promoting stronger trade, investment and industrial partnerships between Italy and Pakistan.

The symposium concluded with a networking breakfast, where participants exchanged ideas and explored practical opportunities for future collaboration.
