Karachi: The Consulate of Italy in Karachi celebrated Italian Language Week 2024 with a delightful cabaret puppetry performance by Italian artist Pamela Mastrorosa. Held at Habitt City, the event was organized in collaboration with Paramount Books Pvt. Ltd., with Gerry’s Group as sponsors and Turkish Airlines as the official travel partner.

The initiative aimed to introduce young children to Italy’s rich culture and language, fostering a love for learning Italian. Notably, Italian is the most studied language worldwide for culture and tourism, with around 85 million native speakers.

Celebrating Italy’s Cultural Heritage

Consul General Danilo Giurdanella warmly welcomed students and teachers from various schools, commending their participation in exploring Italy’s language and cultural heritage. The children were greeted by puppet artists Pamela Mastrorosa and Franck Le Lay, enjoying an interactive performance followed by a delicious breakfast.

In addition, the Consulate distributed a special edition of “A Thousand Wonders” featuring Geronimo Stilton, the beloved children’s character, who embarks on an adventure across Italy’s cultural and historical landmarks.

The Italian Language Week: Promoting Language and Literature

The Week of the Italian Language in the World (WILW) will be celebrated globally by Italian diplomatic and cultural missions in October 2024. This year’s theme, “Italian and the Book: The World between the Lines,” will focus on the connection between language and literature, emphasizing the book’s role as a bridge to Italian cultural heritage, values, and identity.
