Rawalpindi: Pakistan’s military has strongly rejected Indian Army Chief General Upendra Dwivedi’s allegations labeling Pakistan as an “epicentre of terrorism.” The Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) denounced the remarks as baseless, politically motivated, and an attempt to divert attention from India’s state-sponsored oppression in Indian Illegally Occupied Jammu and Kashmir (IOJK).

ISPR Highlights India’s Brutality and Duplicity

In a strongly worded statement, the ISPR accused India of using such claims to obscure the brutal repression and human rights violations in IOJK. It highlighted the systematic persecution of minorities and state-sponsored hate speech targeting Muslims. The ISPR asserted that these actions are designed to stoke violence and justify oppressive policies.

The ISPR further alleged that General Dwivedi’s remarks reflect the extreme politicization of the Indian Army, pointing out his direct involvement in overseeing atrocities in IOJK. The statement described India’s actions as transnational repression and genocide against unarmed Kashmiris, intensifying their resolve for self-determination in line with UN Security Council resolutions.

Indian Officer Accused of Terror Activities

Pakistan’s military spotlighted the case of a serving Indian military officer allegedly captured while orchestrating terror activities within Pakistan. The ISPR criticized Indian leadership for ignoring this incident and attempting to deflect attention from its own involvement in fostering regional instability.

The statement also condemned India for convening hate-speech conclaves promoting violence against Muslims and underscored the international community’s awareness of India’s oppressive policies.

Call for Professionalism and Constructive Engagement

The ISPR urged Indian military leadership to prioritize professionalism, civility, and constructive state-to-state behavior rather than pursuing politically driven agendas. It emphasized the need for a shift in India’s narrative to acknowledge ground realities and engage in meaningful dialogue for regional stability.

Security Forces Eliminate Terrorists in North Waziristan

Meanwhile, Pakistan’s security forces successfully conducted an intelligence-based operation in North Waziristan’s Spinwam area from January 14 to 15, 2025. Four terrorists involved in attacks on civilians and security personnel were neutralized.

The operation, initiated after credible intelligence reports, also led to the recovery of weapons and ammunition. Clearance activities in the area are ongoing to eliminate any residual threats. The ISPR reiterated the military’s commitment to eradicating terrorism and ensuring peace across the country.

Foreign Ministry Reiterates Kashmir’s Disputed Status

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs rejected claims by India’s defense minister and army chief regarding Azad Jammu and Kashmir (AJK) and Gilgit-Baltistan. It reaffirmed that Jammu and Kashmir is an internationally recognized dispute, with its final resolution contingent on the aspirations of the Kashmiri people under UN resolutions.

The ministry accused India of attempting to shift international focus from its human rights violations in IOJK through baseless allegations and reaffirmed Pakistan’s steadfast support for the Kashmiri struggle.
