The remarks came after Nvidia, the world’s most valuable company, unveiled a powerful new chip designed for Windows-based PCs that can run AI agents capable of performing tasks on behalf of users.

The development marks a direct challenge to traditional PC chipmakers, including Intel and AMD, as well as Apple’s laptop ecosystem.

Speaking at a news conference in Taipei, Alex Katouzian, general manager of Intel’s client computing and physical AI group, said Nvidia’s latest move highlights the growing importance of personal computers in the AI era.

“If you take a look at what they brought to market, I think it’s a good thing,” Katouzian said. “It shows the importance of how critical the PC is.”

He added that Intel remains confident in its position in the market, citing its broad product coverage and strong customer relationships.

“We welcome the competition, but I think we’re going to do really well,” he said, pointing to what he described as a “super strong” product roadmap and new opportunities emerging in AI computing.
