Indonesia is strengthening its engagement with Pakistan’s healthcare sector through Indonesian Medica, a dedicated showcase at Health Asia Expo & Conference 2026 in Karachi.
The three-day event runs from September 10 to 12 at the Karachi Expo Centre. Indonesia is serving as the Country Partner for this year’s expo.
Pakistan’s Federal Minister for Health, Syed Mustafa Kamal, inaugurated Health Asia 2026. He later visited the Indonesian Medica pavilion and joined Indonesian Consul General in Karachi Mudzakir for a symbolic ribbon-cutting ceremony.
The minister welcomed bilateral cooperation in the health sector. Mudzakir also thanked the minister for visiting the Indonesian pavilion.
The Consulate General of Indonesia in Karachi initiated and facilitated the showcase. It brings together the Indonesian Medical Device Ecosystem Development Association (HIPELKI) and several Indonesian companies.
Participants include PT Sugih Instrumento Abadi, PT Ocean Medica and PT Eagle Indo Pharma, known for its Cap Lang products.
The showcase features medical devices, healthcare products, hospital supplies, consumer health products and wellness items.

However, Indonesian Medica aims to go beyond product promotion. The Indonesian Consulate is facilitating direct engagement between Indonesian businesses and potential Pakistani partners.
These include importers, distributors, medical-device manufacturers, hospitals, healthcare associations and other industry stakeholders.
“We want Indonesian companies not simply to exhibit products, but to understand the Pakistani market, meet the right partners and build sustainable business relationships,” Mudzakir said.
Pakistan’s demand for imported medical devices could create new opportunities for Indonesian companies. Growing efforts to support local manufacturing and import substitution could also open doors to technology cooperation and joint production.
Potential areas include distribution partnerships, production machinery and joint manufacturing ventures.
Ahead of Health Asia 2026, the Indonesian Consulate facilitated direct discussions between HIPELKI and the Healthcare Devices Association of Pakistan (HDAP).
HDAP represents about 300 importers and manufacturers. HIPELKI brings together around 250 companies and stakeholders from Indonesia’s medical-device industry.
“Our objective is practical: turn meetings into connections, connections into business leads, and business leads into trade and industrial partnerships,” Mudzakir said.
The Consulate General will continue arranging targeted meetings between Indonesian participants and Pakistani businesses during the expo.
It also plans to maintain engagement after the exhibition to develop potential commercial partnerships.
Through Indonesian Medica, Indonesia aims to establish a more structured presence in Pakistan’s healthcare market. The initiative also seeks to create a platform for long-term cooperation between the healthcare industries of both countries.
