KARACHI, July 17, 2026: Governor Sindh Farewell ceremony was held in Karachi as Governor Sindh Syed Muhammad Nehal Hashmi honoured the outgoing Consul General of Malaysia, Herman Hardynata Ahmad, Consul General of Iraq, Dr. Maher Mujahid Jejan, and Deputy Chief of Protocol at the Foreign Affairs Liaison Office Karachi, Sadia Gohar.
Speaking at the event as chief guest, Governor Hashmi praised the Malaysian Consul General for strengthening the longstanding relations between Pakistan and Malaysia. He also said Pakistan and Iraq share deep historical, cultural, and spiritual ties that continue to strengthen bilateral friendship.

The Governor said diplomacy is built on trust, mutual respect, and continuous dialogue. He stressed that constructive engagement and patient negotiations remain the most effective way to resolve differences between nations.
Highlighting the importance of international cooperation, Governor Hashmi described Sindh as Pakistan’s economic gateway and commercial hub. He reaffirmed the provincial government’s commitment to expanding trade and investment with friendly countries while promoting collaboration in information technology, renewable energy, and other sectors of mutual interest.
Addressing the outgoing diplomats, the Governor thanked them for their services and expressed confidence that they would continue to strengthen ties between Pakistan and their respective countries.
The ceremony was hosted by Director General of the Foreign Affairs Liaison Office Karachi, Irfan Soomro, and attended by consuls general from several countries, former diplomats, senior government officials, and members of civil society.
Following the ceremony, Governor Hashmi joined guests in cutting a commemorative cake. Irfan Soomro also presented the Governor with a traditional Ajrak, a bouquet, and a commemorative shield.
