The Global Peace Summit (GPS) continues its

through collaboration and action

The Global Peace Summit (GPS) continues its mission to address pressing global issues through collaboration and action. During the “First Round Table on Humanitarian Cooperation on the Gaza Crisis,” international experts, diplomats, and defense analysts reached a consensus on the urgent need for a ceasefire in Gaza, calling for an end to Israeli aggression against Palestinian civilians.

Experts Call for Immediate Ceasefire and Aid Access

Chaired by Shaikh Mahmud bin Ilyas, Founder and Chairman of GPS, the event featured key figures like Dr. Yousif Fouzi from the European Gaza Hospital and Harry Sholy of the Palestine Red Crescent Society. They highlighted the dire medical crisis in Gaza, with hospitals nearing collapse due to a lack of supplies. Dr. Fouzi emphasized that thousands of trucks with essential aid are stuck at the Rafah and Al-Arish border crossings, worsening the humanitarian disaster.

International Community’s Role in Ending the Conflict

David Swanson, Executive Director of World Beyond War, condemned Israel’s use of starvation as a war tactic, calling for immediate global action to stop military support for Israel. Alexander Lawson, Associate Professor of Law at Ziauddin University, discussed international legal action, while Asham Agha Nadeem, from Denmark’s Independent Greens Party, noted rising European sympathy for Palestinians.

Palestinian-American author Ibtisam Barakat underscored the plight of Gaza’s children, who have been out of school for a year due to the destruction of educational infrastructure. Professor Ramsey Hanhan lamented the economic devastation caused by Israeli attacks on Gaza’s farms.

Pakistani Experts Warn of Regional and Global Impacts

Pakistani experts, including defense analyst Brigadier (R) Said Nazir and economist Dr. Aneel Salman, warned of the crisis’ broader implications, including potential regional conflict and global economic instability. They stressed the need for urgent international intervention to prevent further escalation.

Diplomatic Efforts for Peace

The session concluded with a message of cautious optimism. Syed Muaz Shah, an arbitration expert, highlighted diplomatic initiatives, such as Palestinian unity with Chinese support and Saudi Arabia’s push for a two-state solution at the UN, backed by over 100 countries. Future GPS discussions on Gaza are planned to further promote peace and humanitarian aid.

Commitment to Action

The summit ended with a commitment to compile policy recommendations for governments and key decision-makers, aimed at fostering peace, stability, and support for the victims of the Gaza crisis.
